Function and Makeup: The bar's Criminal Law Section is comprised mostly of about equal numbers of criminal defense attorneys and prosecutors, but also has a few judges and non-lawyers. The section is governed by an executive committee comprised of equal numbers of criminal defense attorneys and prosecutors. The section endeavors to serve criminal law practitioners regardless of their affiliation with the prosecution or defense function, and without favoritism toward either function. For the last 16 years the section has achieved this goal primarily by offering, in April of each year, a highly regarded daylong CLE called Contemporary Issues in Criminal Justice.
